Little Red Running Hood

MILES 625 When I was young, I remember being very impatient with puzzles….. they were the WORST grab bag gift….. and something I wanted nothing to do with…… until later…. I became fascinated by how all those little pieces fit together to form a whole…. each tiny piece was a part of something far greater than itself… and of course….I needed to know……. how fast I could put it together. It is the end of the season and all of the big races are done…. what remains are short or crazy races for the super tough or the psycologically impaired….. WHO races in 90 degree heat? But I guess if you are a runner, you just do it….. because… well… runners run… and races let us test our toughness… and validate our efforts. My run group is full of super stars…. and these super human runners are always encouraging me to do better….. lifting me up….. making me believe I can…. and I was so happy to see them winning today….. I take pride in the fact that my run group… can beat ANYONE….. just try to ra...

 MILES 597 In a rare moment of reflection….. I am taking a day to look back and say HOLY WOW girl!  Look how FREAKING FAR you have come….. look how truly amazing you have done…. remember that girl who could do a little ballet…. the one who joined the track team twice… but quit the second it got hard…. No thank you hard… I am just going to avoid that whole part of life…. Easy Street for me please! Do you see that girl…. because I can't even remember what she looked like…. All I see is a girl who can not only DO, but teach any wicked cool lift in the gym…. do some amazing flexibility tricks….run marathons…..all while working and taking care of 3 amazing kids…. and I do it…. all….by….my….self.
